Fire destroyed an unpermitted residential structure near Pahoa Friday evening.

According to a Hawaii Fire Department statement, five units responded to an 8:28 p.m. alarm with the first unit arriving on scene at 8:35 p.m.

Responders found the 35-foot-by-25-foot structure 100% involved in flames, according to the statement.

The fire was reported under control at 8:43 p.m. and extinguished at 9:30 p.m.

No one was near the structure and no injuries were reported.

The statement didn’t include a dollar estimate of property loss.
